Assistive Technology is an NDIS term for equipment or devices that help people do things they can’t do because of a disability. Assistive technology could replace a function or task completely, or help someone do something more easily or safely.
Common types of Assistive Technology (sometimes shortened to AT) include:
Walking frames
Wheelchairs
Electric lift riser recliner chairs
Adjustable beds
Commode chairs
Shower chairs
Alternative toilet seats or over-toilet frames
Pressure relieving mattresses
Cushions that relieve pressure
Small aids like a kettle tipper, large handled cutlery, a shoe horn, long handled reacher
One handed aids like modified cutting boards, rocker knife, soap dispensers
My Aged Care, TAC and NDIS all have a framework for what can be funded and what documents need to be provided to justify the funding.
