The Co-Founders of Adapt OT are Peta McKenna and Amy Zuluaga, Occupational Therapists each with 13 years of clinical experience. Peta and Amy are now offering private Occupational Therapy services to adults in the Geelong region and more broadly by negotiation.  

 

Peta McKenna:  

 

Peta has worked in hospitals and rehabilitation settings across Australia, most recently in Brisbane. She recently returned to Victoria and is teaching at Deakin University and in the final months of completing a Masters in Public Health, focusing on health promotion and prevention of health related impairments.  

 

Areas of interest and expertise: 

  •          Acquired brain injury (ABI) and Stroke; including associated cognitive impairment  
  •          Pain management, including Mindfulness to aid self-management  
  •          Chronic and degenerative neurological conditions 
  •          Assistive technology and home modifications to support independence 
  •          Mobility aids including manual and power wheelchairs 
  •          Pressure care and prevention of injury 
  •          Workplace supports to optimise performance 

 

 

Amy Zuluaga  

 

Amy has worked in the Geelong region for 10 years in rehabilitation, community health and with NDIS clients as a private contractor. Amy has a particular interest in home modifications, and is a Registered Livable Housing Guidelines Assessor. Amy has a comprehensive understanding of the NDIS having provided OT services to clients since the commencement of the Barwon trial site in 2013.  

 

Areas of interest and expertise: 

  •           Assisting adults with chronic neurological conditions to achieve their goals – eg. Stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone Disease and other rare degenerative diseases  
  •             Assistive Technology; manual and power wheelchair prescription, environmental controls, and smaller aids  
  •     Finding innovative solutions to home access issues, including complex home modifications such as ramps, accessible bathrooms and kitchens, platform lifts, rails etc  
  •             Accredited Liveable Housing (LHA) Assessor
